Empowering Community for Self Sustenance (ECOSS) is seeking to launch a new initiative
aimed at empowering women with employable skills to enable them sustain themselves economically through Train them in making re-usable sanitary pads, uniforms & sweaters, Skill rural women in liquid soap making and Train rural women farmers in vegetable growing. This initiative is called Economic Empowerment of Rural Women Project. This document outlines the objectives, expected outcomes, and proposed activities for the Economic Empowerment of Rural Women Project.
With the increasing challenges of rampant poverty among rural communities, there is a critical need for innovative solutions to reduce poverty in rural families through promoting home-based economic initiatives. The ‘Economic Empowerment of Rural Women Project seeks to address the challenge by implementing skilling and training families at household level.
III. Objectives
Activity 1: Mobilize ten women from two rural women groups for training in tailoring – 10 women from two rural women groups from Kakondo & Kakuza parishes are identified for training; procure sewing machines, fabrics, other tailoring accessories; Procure the service of an expert tailor to train rural women in tailoring; provide a startup capital to rural women to begin production of re-usable sanitary pads, sweaters and uniforms
Activity 2: Mobilize ten women from two rural women groups for training in liquid soap making- 10 rural women from Kakuza & Kikondo are identified for training; Chemicals and other paraphernalia are assembled for training; Six training sessions are carried out; 10 rural women are killed in soap making; Liquid soap packed in bottles are produced by rural women groups.
Activity 3: Train rural women farmers in vegetable growing- Mobilize ten women from two rural women groups for training in vegetable Growing; procure seeds, fertilizers, herbicides & farm implements; Procure the service of an Agricultural extension worker to train in vegetable growing; prepare nursery beds & vegetables gardens.
